United Arab Emirates Expands Passport Renewal Window

  • The United Arab Emirates now allows citizens to renew passports up to one year before expiration, doubling the previous six-month renewal window 

UAE Passport Renewal Policy Update 

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced a key update to its passport renewal policy. Effective 18 August 2025, UAE citizens may renew their passports if the remaining validity is one year or less. The change, issued by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), aims to enhance travel planning and streamline official processes. 

Passport renewals can be completed via the ICP’s smart services platform.
