United Arab Emirates to Require Monthly Salary Payments
Key Point
- The United Arab Emirates will require all private‑sector employers to pay salaries by the first day of each month under updated Wage Protection System rules effective June 1, 2026.
Wage Protection System
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced that, effective June 1, 2026, certain private‑sector employers under its direct supervision must pay employee salaries no later than the first day of each month under updated Wage Protection System (WPS) regulations.
Companies that delay payments may face work permit suspensions, fines, payroll compliance penalties and potential legal action for repeated violations as the UAE strengthens wage transparency and labor enforcement.
