Malaysia Launches New One‑Stop Digital System for Expatriate Applications

Key Point

  • Malaysia will centralize expatriate hiring processes under a new fully digital platform, streamlining approvals for companies in the manufacturing and selected services sectors.

One Stop Digital System

Malaysia announced a major modernization of its expatriate hiring framework with the launch of the MIDA Expatriate System (MES), a unified digital platform designed to simplify and accelerate end‑to‑end expatriate application processing.

Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) will administer the system starting 16 March 2026.

What Is Changing

The MES brings together processes that were previously handled across multiple systems and agencies. Key updates include:

  • One digital platform for all stages of expatriate applications, including company registration, expatriate post approval, EP and PVP approvals, and ePass endorsement.
  • Direct integration with the Malaysian Immigration System (MYImms), enabling a single login and one‑time document submission.
  • Automatic routing of applications submitted through the Xpats Gateway into MIDA’s InvestMalaysia platform, which manages the full lifecycle of each case.
  • Nationwide consistency in evaluation standards and processing timelines.
  • Real‑time tracking for employers, reducing the need to follow up across multiple agencies.
