Malaysia Announces Foreign Knowledge Worker Declaration Headcount Update and Scheduled System Maintenance

Key Point

  • Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has announced updates to the Foreign Knowledge Worker (FKW) Declaration headcount process and scheduled maintenance for the Expats System.

FKW Declaration Headcount and Expats System Maintenance

Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) released an official update affecting companies registered under the MSC Malaysia / Malaysia Digital (MD) status that use the Expats System for Employment Pass (EP) and related applications.

Updated FKW Declaration Headcount Requirements

MDEC reminds companies to ensure their FKW headcount matches approved thresholds before submitting expatriate applications and warns that it will delay or reject applications if the declared headcount does not align with its records.

Companies should verify that all expatriate and local employee data is up to date and compliant before initiating new submissions.

This requirement applies to all companies using the Expats System for EP, DE Rantau Nomad program (Malaysia’s digital nomad visa) and related pass applications.
