Denmark: Extension of Withdrawal Agreement Permissions

Key Points

Overview

The government of Denmark extended the deadline for the submission of right-to-residence applications until the end of 2023 for nationals impacted by the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement.

As a result, the government will continue to process cases with a reasonable purpose for a late submission.

To be eligible for residence under the Withdrawal Agreement, applicants must have legally resided in Denmark under EU free movement rules before 31 December 2020. If an application has already been rejected for not meeting these conditions, it cannot reapply.

What are the Changes?

The Danish government extended the application submission deadline for the right-to-residence for nationals impacted by the Withdrawal Agreement. The deadline was originally set to expire on 31 December 2021 but has been extended several times to accommodate British nationals.

Looking Ahead

The government is expected to introduce an exact date for the end of the deadline in the coming months. Continue to check the government of Denmark’s website and Envoy’s website for the latest updates and information.
