Denmark Suspends Certain Immigration Cases Due to Criminal Register Error

• Denmark has suspended processing of certain immigration applications after authorities identified an error in the national Criminal Register that may affect eligibility assessments.

On September 2, 2026, the Danish Immigration Service temporarily suspended processing certain pending immigration cases in which information from the Criminal Register could affect the outcome. 

The suspension follows the discovery of an error in the Criminal Register by the National Police, which is currently investigating the scope and impact of the issue. As a result, immigration authorities have been instructed to pause processing of affected cases until further information becomes available. 

Affected Case Types 

The suspension currently includes: 

• Applications for permanent residence 
• Certain family reunification applications  

What Applicants Should Know 

Applicants with affected cases may experience delays as authorities review the issue. Denmark has indicated that impacted applications cannot be finalized until the investigation is completed.
