Denmark Ends Automatic Departure Deadline Extensions for Iranian and Lebanese Nationals

• Denmark will no longer generally extend departure deadlines for individuals required to leave the country for Iran or Lebanon.

The Danish Immigration Service announced that departure deadlines for individuals required to leave Denmark for Iran or Lebanon will generally no longer be extended.  

Who Is Affected? 

The change applies to individuals: 

• Required to depart Denmark for Iran 
• Required to depart Denmark for Lebanon 
• Previously granted extensions based on conditions in either country  

Background 

The decision follows a ruling by the Coordination Committee of the Immigration Appeals Board on Aug. 27, 2026, concluding that departure deadlines should no longer generally be extended due to the overall situations in Iran and Lebanon.  

Additional Considerations 

While departure deadline extensions are ending, Denmark confirmed that the processing of asylum applications involving Iranian nationals remains suspended.
