Canada Increases Right of Citizenship Fee

Key Point

  • Canada will increase the Right of Citizenship fee for adult applicants to $123 starting March 31, 2026.

Right of Citizenship Fee

Canada announced that the Right of Citizenship fee for adult applicants will increase on March 31, 2026.

The government is making the adjustment as part of its annual inflation‑based updates under the Service Fees Act.

Key Changes

  • The Right of Citizenship fee will increase by $3.25, rising from $119.75 to $123.
  • The adult citizenship grant application processing fee remains unchanged at $530.
  • The fee adjustment is part of IRCC’s annual process to align government fees with inflation and support sustainable program delivery.

Background

Under the Service Fees Act, certain government fees, including the Right of Citizenship fee, are updated each fiscal year based on the April All‑Items Consumer Price Index (CPI). These adjustments help IRCC maintain consistent service levels and keep pace with rising operational costs.
