The United Kingdom Updates Pre-Settled Status Changes

Key Points

  • As of January 2025, the UK will automatically convert eligible pre-settled status holders to settled status, removing the need for re-application

UK Pre-Settled Status Automation from 2025

As of January 2025, the United Kingdom (UK) will automatically convert eligible pre-settled status holders to settled status, eliminating the need for them to apply again. Pre-settled status holders nearing expiry will receive an email about their potential conversion to settled status, with the first grants expected in late January 2025.

Pre-settled status holders do not need to take any action. If conversion is not possible, they will receive a notification. The government will implement this change in phases throughout 2025.
