Taiwan Updates Online Passport Renewal Program

Online Passport Renewal Program
Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced an expansion of its “conditional online passport renewal” program, effective July 1, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
Expanded Eligibility Criteria
Under the updated policy, individuals whose passports have either expired or have less than one year of validity remaining will now be eligible to renew their passports online.
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be adults with household registration in Taiwan
- Hold a passport that is expired or nearing expiration (within one year) and not lost
- Have no changes to personal information listed in the passport
Application Process
Eligible applicants can complete the renewal process through the online system using a digital certificate.
