Saudi Arabia Introduces Flexible Iqama Renewals for Domestic Workers

• Saudi Arabia now allows employers to issue and renew residence permits (Iqamas) for domestic workers and certain related worker categories in three-month increments.

Saudi Arabia Launches Quarterly Iqama Renewal Option 

Saudi Arabia has introduced a new option allowing residence permits (Iqamas) for domestic workers and similar categories of workers to be issued and renewed for shorter periods, beginning at three months. The measure provides employers with greater flexibility in managing residency permits and associated costs.

As a result, Saudi Arabia will:

• Allow employers to issue and renew domestic worker residence permits (Iqamas) for periods starting at three months.
• Permit employers to pay residency permit fees on a quarterly basis instead of only for longer renewal periods.
• Enable employers to issue or renew permits in three-month increments, providing greater flexibility for employers and workers.
• Deliver these changes through the Musaned platform, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.
