New Zealand introduced strengthened health insurance requirements for applicants under the Peak Seasonal Visa (PSV), a program widely used in horticulture and viticulture during high‑demand harvest periods.  

Under the updated rules, PSV workers must now hold comprehensive medical insurance that includes coverage for:

• Emergency treatment
• Hospital care
• Specialist services
• Full medical repatriation
• Employers who rely on seasonal labor will need to verify that workers’ insurance policies meet the new standards before arrival, as insufficient coverage may delay visa issuance or entry clearance.
