New Zealand Expands Post-Study Work Visa Eligibility for Graduate Diploma Holders

• New Zealand will broaden Post-Study Work Visa eligibility beginning Nov. 16, 2026, creating new pathways for graduate diploma holders with bachelor’s degrees.  

Expands Post-Study Work Visa Eligibility 

Immigration New Zealand will expand eligibility for the Post-Study Work Visa to certain graduates who complete a Level 7 graduate diploma and hold a bachelor’s degree.  

New Eligibility Criteria 

Beginning Nov. 16, 2026, eligible applicants must: 

• Complete a Level 7 graduate diploma 
• Study full-time in New Zealand for the entire qualification 
• Be enrolled in the qualification for its full duration 
• Hold a bachelor’s degree obtained either in New Zealand or overseas  

Additional Details 

Authorities also clarified Post-Study Work Visa eligibility for: 

• Postgraduate Diploma (Level 8) graduates, who may qualify for a one-year visa 
• Master’s Degree (Level 9) graduates, who may qualify for a three-year visa, subject to study duration requirements
