Ireland Extends Temporary Protection Permissions

Key Point

  • Ireland will extend Temporary Protection Permissions until March 2027.

Temporary Protection Permissions

Ireland announced an extension of immigration permissions for all Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection (BOTP) through 4 March 2027. This automatic extension applies to individuals residing in Ireland with a Temporary Protection Certificate (yellow paper) currently valid until 4 March 2026. According to the announcement:

  • Temporary protection permission is extended by one year, through 4 March 2027.
  • Beneficiaries do not need to apply for a new Temporary Protection Certificate.
  • Expired certificates may continue to serve as proof of entitlement to temporary protection and access to related state services until the new validity date.

Impact on Beneficiaries

Individuals covered by this extension may continue to live, work, study and access state supports in Ireland under the Temporary Protection Directive without taking additional action at this time.
