Ireland Requires Multi-Factor Authentication for ISD Customer Service Portal

  • Ireland’s Immigration Service Delivery now requires multi-factor authentication for all Customer Service Portal users.

ISD Customer Service Portal

Ireland’s Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) has implemented a new security enhancement requiring all users of the ISD Customer Service Portal to use multi-factor authentication (MFA) when signing into their accounts. The update is intended to strengthen account security and better protect immigration-related personal information.

MFA Now Mandatory for All Portal Users

Under the new requirement, users must complete an additional verification step when accessing the ISD Customer Service Portal. In addition to entering their username and password, users must verify their identity through an authenticator application.

Accepted authenticator applications include:

  • Microsoft Authenticator
  • Google Authenticator
  • Other compatible authenticator apps as supported by the platform

Enhanced Protection for Personal Information

According to ISD, the MFA requirement is designed to:

  • Improve account security
  • Protect users’ personal information
  • Reduce the risk of unauthorized account access
  • Strengthen safeguards against fraud and credential compromise

Impact on Applicants and Representatives

Individuals who access the ISD Customer Service Portal for immigration applications, case inquiries, status updates or correspondence should ensure they have a compatible authenticator application installed before attempting to log in.

Users may encounter an additional step during sign-in as they become familiar with the new security requirements.

Users should be prepared to:

  • Download and install an authenticator app if they have not already done so
  • Link the app to their ISD portal account
  • Use a one-time verification code generated by the app during future logins
