DHS Automatically Extends TPS for Lebanon
Key Point
- DHS has automatically extended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Lebanon by six months, through November 27, 2026, allowing eligible individuals to maintain their status and work authorization.
TPS Extension for Lebanon
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced a six-month automatic extension of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Lebanon.
A Federal Register notice automatically extends Lebanon’s TPS designation—originally set to expire on May 27, 2026—through November 27, 2026.
Key Details
- The extension is effective May 28, 2026, through November 27, 2026.
- This automatic extension is permitted under the Immigration and Nationality Act when DHS does not make a determination on a TPS designation at least 60 days prior to its expiration.
- DHS noted that rapidly evolving conditions in Lebanon impacted its ability to complete a timely review of country conditions.
Employment Authorization
- The extension automatically extends the validity of certain Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) issued under the Lebanon TPS designation through November 27, 2026.
- Existing TPS beneficiaries may continue using eligible EADs as evidence of continued work authorization during the extension period.
