Denmark Introduces New Online Application for EU Family Reunification Cases

Key Point

  • Denmark launched a new digital application system for individuals applying for family reunification with a Danish citizen under EU regulations.

Online Family Reunification Cases

On July 8, 2026, the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) launched a new digital application form, OD2A-C, for certain family reunification applicants. The new system enables eligible individuals to complete and submit their applications directly through the New to Denmark portal.

Who Is Eligible?

The digital application is intended for individuals seeking a residence document as a family member of a Danish citizen who has exercised their EU free movement rights by establishing genuine residence in another EU country.

Eligible applicants may use the new online form to apply for family reunification under applicable EU free movement regulations in these circumstances.

Key Features of the New System

The new digital application offers several features, including:

  • Online completion and submission of applications through the New to Denmark website;
  • Guided application instructions designed to help applicants complete forms correctly;
  • Access to a personal platform where users can view ongoing applications and completed applications for up to 30 days after submission.

Paper Applications Remain Available

SIRI confirmed that applicants may continue to use the existing printable application form. The digital application serves as an additional filing option rather than a replacement for paper submissions.
