Denmark Extends Departure Deadlines for Individuals Required to Return to Lebanon

Key Point

  • Denmark announced that it will automatically extend all departure deadlines issued on or after 12 March 2026 for individuals required to return to Lebanon due to the ongoing security situation there.

Automatic Extension for New Departure Deadlines

On 16 March 2026, Denmark announced that departure deadlines for individuals required to return to Lebanon are being extended due to the ongoing security situation in the country. As a result:

  • Denmark will automatically extend all departure deadlines issued on or after 12 March 2026 for individuals required to return to Lebanon.
  • The departure deadline for each individual remains specified in their original decision notice.

Option to Request Additional Extensions

Individuals who cannot meet their assigned departure deadline must:

  • Contact the authority that issued their decision (either the Immigration Service or SIRI), and
  • Provide an explanation and, if possible, supporting documentation demonstrating why they cannot comply.

Extension Linked to Security Conditions in Lebanon

The extension is a direct response to the current security situation in Lebanon, which has also led the Danish Refugee Appeals Board to postpone forced returns.
