Czechia Introduces New Employee Registration Requirements Effective April 2026
Key Point
- Czechia introduced new employee registration obligations effective April 2026, requiring employers to submit expanded data for existing workers and follow new deadlines for registering new hires.
Czechia Implements New Reporting Rules
Czechia issued new requirements for employers under the updated employee registration system administered by the Czech Social Security Administration (ČSSZ).
Beginning April 1, 2026, employers must report an expanded set of employee data through the Employee Registration (REGZEC) system as part of the transition to the new Employee Register.
These changes apply to both existing and newly hired employees.
Existing Employees
Employers must submit additional data for any employee who:
- was recorded in the CSSA insurance register for at least one day between January 1 and March 31, 2026, and
- remains employed after April 1, 2026.
This expanded data set must be submitted via REGZEC – “Change” no later than April 30, 2026.
- Employers must also register, via REGZEC, any individuals who newly fall under the definition of “employee” (such as previously uninsured workers under an Agreement to Perform Work). This must also be completed by April 30, 2026.
- Employers who were registered ex officio (as taxpayers) must register all employees in the insurance register by April 30, 2026.
- Employers who were not previously registered in the CSSA Employee Register but register themselves after April 1, 2026, must register their employees within eight days of receiving their assigned variable symbol.
New Employees
Beginning April 2026, employers must register all new employees through REGZEC within eight days of the earliest of the following:
- Employee’s start date,
- Date the employer becomes obliged to provide a benefit,
- Date the employer first provides a benefit, or
- Date the employer submits a sickness‑insurance benefit application if the employee claims the benefit before registration.
For foreign employees, registration in the Employee Register must be completed before they begin work.
