Vietnam Accedes to the Apostille Convention
Key Point
- Vietnam has formally acceded to the 1961 Apostille Convention, which will streamline the legalization of public documents for cross‑border use.
Vietnam Joins Apostille Convention
Vietnam acceded to the Apostille Convention on 31 December 2025. As a result, all public documents issued in the country, such as birth certificates, academic records and corporate documents, will be eligible for an Apostille rather than full consular legalization.
According to the government, this change is expected to simplify document processing for individuals and employers handling cross‑border administrative or immigration matters.
