The United Kingdom Priority Change of Circumstances Service for Worker and Temporary Worker Sponsors

Key Point

  • The UK Home Office updated its Priority Change of Circumstances (CoS) service, outlining how licensed sponsors can request expedited processing for certain changes to their sponsor licence.

Guidance on Priority Change of Circumstances Service

On May 1, 2026, the United Kingdom (U.K.) The Home Office published updated guidance for the Priority Change of Circumstances (CoS) Service, which allows Worker and Temporary Worker sponsors to request expedited processing for certain license changes.

The update clarifies which requests qualify for priority handling, how sponsors must submit them and the service’s daily capacity limits.

What Changed?

The May 1, 2026, update provides clearer instructions on:

Eligible Change Requests

The Home Office reaffirmed and clarified that only specific licence updates qualify for priority processing, including:

  • Adding a new Level 1 User
  • Replacing an Authorizing Officer
  • Replacing a Key Contact
  • Updating organization details, such as:
    • Company name
    • Business address
    • Company size or structure
    • Adding a linked entity (for organizations using a group structure)

The update makes it explicit that only these categories can be expedited.

Submission Process and Capacity Limits

The guidance clarifies that:

  • Sponsors must first submit the change in the Sponsor Management System (SMS).
  • Only after submitting the change can they request priority processing.
  • The service accepts a limited number of requests per working day, on a firstcome, firstserved basis.
  • Sponsors will receive an email confirming whether their request has been accepted.

This update reinforces the importance of earlyday submissions due to capacity constraints.
