Qatar Ends Automatic Visa Extensions

  • Qatar has ended the temporary extension of expired or expiring entry visas, with standard visa rules resuming as of June 7, 2026. 

Visa Extensions 

According to a Ministry of Interior press release dated March 3, 2026, regarding the extension of all types of expired or expiring entry visas, Qatar has officially terminated the policy allowing automatic visa extensions. 

The change took effect on Sunday, June 7, 2026, signaling a return to standard visa procedures and enforcement. 

End of Visa Extension Policy 

The previously implemented measure allowed: 

  • Automatic extensions for visas that were expired or nearing expiration 

As of June 7, 2026: 

  • This policy has ended 
  • All visa types are now subject to normal validity periods and requirements 

Resumption of Standard Visa Rules 

Starting June 7, 2026: 

  • Visa processing and compliance requirements follow approved procedures and guidelines 
  • Standard validity periods and government fees apply to all visa categories 

This marks a shift back to pre-extension regulatory conditions. 

Compliance Requirements 

The Ministry urges all affected individuals and entities to: 

  • Verify current legal status 
  • Renew visas on time 
  • Pay applicable fees within the required deadlines 
  • Exit the country upon visa expiration, if not eligible for renewal 

Failure to comply may result in: 

  • Legal violations 
  • Penalties related to overstaying
