Oman Announces Licensing Grace Period Through June 2026
Key Point
- Oman introduced a grace period for unlicensed foreign national workers in select sectors to use work permits while they secure the required professional practice licenses
Professional Practice License
Oman has announced a grace period effective until 1 June 2026, granting additional time for workers in the energy and minerals sectors to obtain the mandatory professional practice license or, where applicable, a classification certificate.
The licensing requirement applies broadly across regulated professions, but only roles within the energy and minerals sectors, including crane operators, welders, technicians and similar positions, benefit from this temporary exemption.
After the deadline, the government will require a valid professional license for both issuance and renewal of work permits.
