Norway Extends Suspension of Return Requirements for Lebanese Nationals
Key Point
- Norway extended return exemptions for rejected Lebanese applicants through September 18, 2026, due to security conditions.
Suspension of Return Requirements for Lebanese Nationals
The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) and the Immigration Appeals Board (UNE) have extended the temporary suspension of the duty to return to Lebanon until September 18, 2026.
Suspension of Return Requirements
Under the extended measure:
- Lebanese nationals who have received a final rejection of a residence application are not currently required to return to Lebanon
- Norwegian authorities will not carry out forced returns during this period
Impact on Case Processing
Authorities will also continue to suspend the processing of immigration cases that could lead to enforced return during the extension period.
Reason for Extension
The decision reflects ongoing concerns about the serious and unpredictable security situation in Lebanon, which continues to affect the feasibility of return.
