Jordan Launches Worker Status Regularization Program
Key Point
- Jordan introduced a temporary program to regularize the status of foreign workers, with fee reductions and exemptions available through 30 September 2026.
Worker Status Regularization Program
Jordan’s Ministry of Labor launched a worker status regularization initiative, allowing non-Jordanian workers of all nationalities to legalize their employment status. The program is effective through September 30, 2026.
Key Measures and Incentives
The program includes several incentives to encourage compliance:
- 50% reduction in accumulated work permit fees for previous periods
- Full waiver of late-payment penalties for renewing or transferring permits
- Full exemption from overstay fines for eligible individuals who regularize their status
Workers choosing to leave Jordan permanently may also benefit from:
- Waived fines and fees
- Access to social security entitlements upon departure
Expanded Eligibility and Flexibility
The policy allows:
- Foreign nationals previously in Jordan for non-work reasons to obtain work permits
- Transfers between employers and sectors under certain conditions
- Regularization for workers with expired or unresolved permit situations
Compliance and Enforcement
Authorities will conduct inspections during the regularization period. After the deadline, stricter enforcement will apply, including potential deportation for workers who fail to regularize their status.
