Georgia Introduces IT Residence Permit
Key Point
- Georgia has launched a new three‑year residence permit for IT professionals, renewable up to 12 years
IT Residence Permit
Georgia introduced a new residence permit in September 2025 designed specifically for professionals in the information technology (IT) sector. The government issues the permit for three years and allows holders to renew it three times, creating a maximum residence period of 12 years.
Eligibility extends to IT professionals employed by Georgian or foreign companies, as well as freelance and remote IT workers. Applicants must demonstrate at least two years of proven IT work experience and an annual income of at least USD 25,000. Permit holders sponsor their spouses and dependents, and those family members must reside in Georgia for at least 183 days each year to keep their permits valid.
This new pathway provides long‑term residence opportunities for IT talent and supports Georgia’s strategy to attract skilled professionals in the technology sector.
