China Launches New Visa Portal for Travelers

Key Point

  • China has simplified short-term visa applications for all foreign travelers, with easier requirements and a new digital portal

China Online Visa Application Portal

As of 20 September 2025, China has simplified short-term visa application requirements for all foreign travelers.

Applicants for tourist (L), business (M), short-term family visit (Q2) and transit (G) visas no longer need to submit round-trip flight tickets, hotel reservations or invitation letters.

This change applies to applications submitted through Chinese embassies and consulates worldwide and is part of China’s effort to promote international travel and exchanges. All travelers are encouraged to use the official Consular Services Portal for streamlined digital processing.
