Canada Expands Visa‑Exempt Travel Options for Eligible Travelers From Indonesia and Malaysia

New VisaExemption Measures for Indonesia and Malaysia 

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced changes to visa requirements for eligible travelers from Indonesia and Malaysia, aimed at deepening Canada’s engagement in the IndoPacific region. 

Key Changes for Eligible Travelers 

IRCC confirms the following updates: 

  • Eligible travelers from Indonesia and Malaysia may now benefit from visaexempt entry to Canada under expanded criteria. 
  • Travelers who qualify may apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) instead of a traditional visitor visa. 
  • The new measures apply to individuals who have previously held a Canadian visa or who meet specific travel history requirements. 
  • The changes are effective immediately.
