Visa Exemption Agreements  

Belgium announced on 14 October 2025 that the Benelux states (Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg) jointly signed agreements with several partner countries to remove short-stay visa requirements. 

The accords mean that citizens of the signatory countries can travel to Benelux states without needing a visa for short visits, and Benelux citizens will enjoy the same exemption when visiting those partner countries. 

The Belgian government emphasized that these agreements: 

• Simplify travel and mobility for citizens. 
• Strengthen bilateral and regional cooperation. 
• Ensure that visa exemptions negotiated jointly apply across all three Benelux countries.
