Australia Increases Skilled Visa Income Thresholds Effective July 2026

Skilled Visa Income Thresholds
The Australian government announced annual indexation increases to skilled visa income thresholds effective July 1, 2026.
According to the Department of Home Affairs, the adjustment ensures that wages for skilled migrants increase in line with earnings growth for Australian workers and helps prevent the undercutting of local wages.
New Income Thresholds
Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT)
The Core Skills Income Threshold has increased:
- From AUD 76,515 to AUD 79,423.
The updated threshold applies to nomination applications for:
- Skills in Demand (Subclass 482) – Core Skills Stream; and
- Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186).
Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT)
The Specialist Skills Income Threshold has increased:
- From AUD 141,210 to AUD 146,576.
The updated threshold applies to:
- Skills in Demand (Subclass 482) – Specialist Skills Stream.
Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT)
The Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold has increased:
- From AUD 76,515 to AUD 79,423.
The updated threshold applies to:
- Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Subclass 494); and
- Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (Subclass 187) nominations.
Who Is Impacted?
The revised thresholds apply to:
- New employer-sponsored nomination applications lodged on or after July 1, 2026.
The changes do not apply to:
- Existing visa holders; or
- Nomination applications submitted before July 1, 2026.
