Australia 2026 Increases to Skilled Visa Income Thresholds

Key Point  

  • Australia will raise key skilled‑visa income thresholds by 3.9% starting 1 July 2026, aligning with annual indexation based on Average Weekly Ordinary Time Earnings (AWOTE). 

Skills Visa Income Threshold  

Australia confirmed that income thresholds used across employer‑sponsored and skilled visa programs will increase as part of the 2026–27 indexation cycle.  

These updated thresholds will apply to all new nomination applications lodged on or after 1 July 2026.  

Updated Thresholds Effective 1 July 2026 

  • Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT): increases from AUD 76,515 to AUD 79,499. 
  • Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT): increases from AUD 141,210 to AUD 146,717. 
  • Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT): increases from AUD 76,515 to AUD 79,499.  

These thresholds apply to nomination applications for: 

  • Subclass 482 (Core Skills and Specialist Skills streams) 
  • Subclass 186 (Employer Nomination Scheme) 
  • Subclass 494 (Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional) 
  • Subclass 187 (Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme) 

Existing visa holders and nominations submitted before that date will not be affected.
