Wallonia, Belgium 2025 Shortage Occupation List
Key Point
- Wallonia, Belgium, has updated its list of shortage occupations for 2025, streamlining the process for hiring foreign workers in sectors facing critical labor gaps
Wallonia Job List 2025
The Walloon Public Employment Service (Le Forem) has updated its list of shortage occupations for 2025–2026, which plays a key role in facilitating the hiring of foreign workers in Belgium.
This list identifies professions where there is a significant lack of qualified local candidates, allowing employers to recruit more easily from outside the European Union between 1 October 2025 and 30 September 2026.
To qualify, employers must demonstrate that no suitable job seeker is available within a reasonable timeframe—even after adequate professional training—and that the position does not correspond to a regulated profession or predefined qualification level.
The update reflects current labor market needs and includes both technical and service-oriented roles. These shortage occupations benefit from simplified administrative procedures for work permits and residence authorizations, making it easier for foreign nationals to fill these critical gaps.
