Uganda Launches Mandatory Alien Registration Process

Alien Registration Process
Uganda’s National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) announced the rollout of the Alien Registration initiative, requiring foreign nationals legally residing in Uganda to complete a multi-step registration process.
Registration Process
Foreign nationals must complete the following steps:
- Pre-registration
- Complete online pre-registration or submit the Alien Registration Form
Fee Assessment
- Generate a Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) assessment
- Obtain a Payment Registration Number (PRN)
Payment
Pay the prescribed fee through approved URA payment channels.
In-Person Enrolment
Visit a designated NIRA registration center for:
- Document verification
- Photograph capture
- Biometric enrollment
Final Step
Applicants must visit the NIRA office at Lumumba Avenue (Wandegeya) to complete the registration process.
