State Department Provides Updates on Processing Times

The State Department has provided an update on its visa processing times. In May 2023, the State Department indicated it is processing visas more efficiently and reducing the time required for administrative processing.

In a statement, the State Department credited new technology and improved coordination with enabling its more efficient process. The State Department also noted that since October 2022, it has reduced the number of cases that would previously have needed to go through additional administrative processing. Collectively, those two measures have helped to decrease application processing and wait times.

While many cases now benefit from quicker processing times, the State Department notes that some cases may still require more extensive security screening. The State Department is working with other federal agencies to make application processing as fast and efficient as possible.
