India EB-2 Per-Country Limit Reached for FY 2026

Key Point

  • The U.S. Department of State has confirmed that all Employment-Based Second Preference (EB-2) immigrant visas for India have been issued for FY 2026.

India EB-2 Per-Country Limit

The U.S. Department of State, in coordination with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), has confirmed that it has issued all available immigrant visas in the EB-2 category for applicants chargeable to India for FY 2026.

As a result, U.S. embassies and consulates may not issue additional EB-2 visas to these applicants for the remainder of the fiscal year.

Visa Allocation Limits

Under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA):

  • The EB-2 category is limited to 28.6% of the worldwide employment-based immigrant visa total each fiscal year.
  • A per-country limit restricts any single country to no more than 7% of the total employment-based and family-sponsored visas annually.

Next Steps

  • The annual visa limits will reset at the start of FY 2027 on October 1, 2026.
  • At that time, embassies and consulates may resume issuing EB-2 visas to qualified applicants chargeable to India.
