Cyprus to Require Medical Examinations for Immigration Permit Applications
Key Point
- Cyprus will require additional medical documentation, including blood tests and tuberculosis screening results, for immigration permit applications under Categories A–F submitted on or after September 1, 2026.
Medical Examinations for Immigration Permit Applications
The Cyprus Migration Department announced that additional medical examinations will become mandatory supporting documents for applications seeking an Immigration Permit under Categories A–F. The new requirements will apply to all relevant applications submitted on or after September 1, 2026.
New Medical Documentation Requirements
Beginning September 1, 2026, applicants must submit:
Blood Test Results
Original blood test results conducted abroad confirming that the applicant and any dependents do not suffer from:
- Hepatitis B;
- Hepatitis C;
- HIV; and
- Syphilis.
Tuberculosis Screening
Applicants must also provide:
- An original chest X-ray for tuberculosis screening issued in the applicant’s country of origin and/or last country of lawful residence.
Certification Requirements
The Migration Department stated that all required medical documents must be:
- Duly certified or legalized; and
- Submitted in accordance with applicable authentication requirements.
Applicants may be exempt from certification or legalization requirements where a bilateral intergovernmental agreement provides for such an exemption.
Exemption for Certain Residence Permit Holders
The medical examinations will not need to be submitted again where:
- The applicant already holds a temporary residence permit in Cyprus;
- The required medical examinations were previously submitted; and
- The results remain available in the relevant administrative file.
