CBP Opens Global Entry for Costa Rica
Key Point
- U.S. Customs and Border Protection has confirmed that Costa Rican citizens can now apply for Global Entry, which provides expedited entry benefits when traveling to the U.S.
Global Entry
On December 8, 2025. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) expanded its Trusted Traveler Program to include Costa Rican nationals. Eligible applicants must submit a Global Entry application through the TTP website and pay the non‑refundable processing fee. A key requirement is completing Costa Rica’s informed consent form within 10 business days of submitting your application.
Form Submission
Applicants may submit the form digitally (preferred) or in person at the Directorate of Migration and Immigration in Costa Rica.
Parents or legal guardians sign a separate consent form for minors. If applicants miss the deadline, officials cancel the application and do not refund fees.
Approval Process
Once conditionally approved, applicants must schedule an interview at a U.S. Global Entry Enrollment Center or use the Enrollment on Arrival option when entering the U.S. During the interview, CBP officers will verify documents, ask eligibility questions, and collect biometrics. Approved applicants receive Global Entry benefits immediately, including access to TSA PreCheck®.
Validity
Membership is valid for five years and can be renewed up to 364 days before expiration. Costa Rican members must maintain a valid passport and visa information in their TTP dashboard and notify CBP of any changes in person at an enrollment center.
