The government of Belgium’s Walloon Region introduced relaxed work permit rules effective 1 September 2024. Key changes include: 

  • New work permit exemptions 
  • Increased flexibility for low- and medium-skilled foreign workers 
  • Easier EU Blue Card applications with shorter contract durations, relaxed employer change rules, and new experience-based eligibility for IT professionals 
  • New professional experience pathways for EU Intracompany Transferee and Highly Skilled Single Permit holders.
