Premium processing is a service offered by USCIS for certain case types. Cases filed with premium processing will be adjudicated by USCIS within 15 calendar days of receipt of the case.* This means that an approval or a request for additional documentation will be issued within 15 days of filing. If additional evidence is requested, USCIS will issue the final determination on the case within 15 days of receiving the additional evidence. With premium processing cases, USCIS will send certain case status updates by email and/or fax, rather than by postal mail only.
USCIS also provides an increased level of customer service for cases filed with premium processing, meaning that government errors on premium processing cases can often be corrected in a matter of days, rather than weeks or months for cases filed without premium processing.
Please note that premium processing does not change the time frame for the legal team to prepare your case.
*In very rare instances USCIS fails to adjudicate a premium processing case within 15 calendar days. In these situations, USCIS will refund the premium processing fee.
