Working in Colombia
Citizens from a number of countries, including Colombia, Canada, European Union member states, the United Kingdom, and the United States, can visit Colombia for up to 90 days without a visa and can then extend their stay an additional 90 days while they are in Colombia.
Colombia has three main visa types, the Visitor Visa, the Resident Visa, and the Migrant Visa. Full-time, long-term employment is allowed with the Resident and Migrant visa, and short-term or seasonal work is allowed with the Visitor Visa in conjunction with a work permit.
Processing times can very based on the time of year and type of visa, so make sure your company factors processing time into the timeline for sending a foreign national to work in Colombia. There are a variety of visas and entry permits, but we’ve listed the main categories below.
Types of Visas
Visitor Visa (Type V)
Resident Visa (Type R)
Migrant Visa (Type M)
