Passport Application Fees
The United Kingdom (U.K.) has announced that new passport application fees will take effect on 8 April 2026, subject to parliamentary approval. The updated fees apply to applications submitted from within the U.K. and overseas.
Key Changes
- Standard online applications (U.K.):
- Adults: increasing from £94.50 to £102
- Children: increasing from £61.50 to £66.50
- Postal applications (U.K.):
- Adults: rising from £107 to £115.50
- Children: rising from £74 to £80
- Premium one‑day service (U.K.):
- Increasing from £222 to £239.50
- Overseas applications:
- Standard online: rising to £116.50 for adults and £75.50 for children
- Standard paper: rising to £130 for adults and £89 for children
Why the Change?
According to the Home Office, the updated fees support a system in which the cost of passport services is covered by applicants rather than general taxation. Fees contribute to processing applications, providing consular support overseas and managing British citizens at U.K. borders.
