The United Kingdom: Updated Guidance for Defined Certificates of Sponsorship

  • The United Kingdom published updated guidance for employers holding or applying for a defined certificates of sponsorship  

Overview  

The United Kingdom (UK) government updated its guidance for employers obtaining defined Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) on 11 March 2024. Some of these changes include the following: 

  • Sponsors must now include a separate summary of a worker’s weekly work hours when submitting a defined CoS application. Previously, the hours needed to be added to the job description text box of the application. 
  • Employers of care workers or senior care workers must register with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). 
  • Addition of a glossary term for ‘regulated activity.’
