Netherlands Updates Renewal Process for Highly Skilled Migrant Residence Permits

Key Point

  • The IND updated the online renewal form for Highly Skilled Migrant permits so applicants no longer need to enter salary details and can instead submit a selfdeclaration confirming compliance with salary requirements.

Highly Skilled Migrant Residence Permit Salary Requirements

The Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) has updated the online renewal process for Highly Skilled Migrant (HSM) residence permits. As of early April 2026, applicants no longer need to enter the employee’s salary in the renewal form; a selfdeclaration is now sufficient.

Instead of providing salary details, applicants must now confirm that:

  • The highly skilled migrant meets the applicable salary criterion
  • The salary is in line with the market (i.e., comparable to average earnings for similar roles)
  • The salary is paid monthly into a bank account in the employee’s name.
