Italy Enables Digital Employment Contract Signing for Additional Work Authorization Applications
Key Point
- Italy has expanded the digital signature functionality on the Ali Sportello Unico portal, enabling employers to electronically sign employment contracts for additional work authorization application types.
Digital Employment Contract Signing
Italy’s Ministry of the Interior announced that, effective June 19, 2026, the Ali Sportello Unico portal now supports the execution of employment contracts using digital signatures for additional immigration application models.
Key Changes
Under the updated system:
- Employment contracts with BC and LFE application types are now permitted to use digital signing functionality.
- Foreign workers may still provide a handwritten (wet-ink) signature where permitted under current regulations.
- Employers and applicants can complete more of the post-approval process electronically through the Ali Sportello Unico portal.
Employer Compliance Requirements
The Ministry also reminded employers of several required post-arrival steps:
- Upon the foreign worker’s arrival in Italy, employers must enter the worker’s arrival information through the designated section of the Ali Sportello Unico portal.
- Employers must subsequently sign and submit the documentation received via certified email (PEC).
