Canada Introduces New Fee for AAIP Worker Expression of Interest

Key Point

  • Alberta, Canada, introduced a new C$135 fee for submitting a Worker Expression of Interest under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program, effective April 7, 2026.

Alberta Adds Fee for Worker Expression of Interest Submissions

Alberta, Canada, implemented a new C$135 fee for foreign nationals submitting a Worker Expression of Interest (WEOI) under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). The change took effect April 7, 2026, as part of the province’s updated AAIP fee schedule.

About the Worker Expression of Interest Submissions

The WEOI is the first step for candidates seeking consideration under Alberta’s worker-focused immigration streams.

Submitting a WEOI does not constitute an application for nomination; instead, it places the candidate into a selection pool for potential invitations based on labor market needs.

Paying the fee does not guarantee selection.

Fee Requirements

Under the updated fee schedule, all other AAIP service fees remain unchanged. Current fees include:

  • C$1,500 — Worker stream applications
  • C$3,500 — Entrepreneur stream applications
  • C$200 — Entrepreneur Expression of Interest
  • C$150 — Nomination extension or letters of support
  • C$250 — Request for reconsideration

The new WEOI fee reflects Alberta’s ongoing efforts to manage intake volumes and maintain efficient processing across its provincial immigration pathways. Employers recruiting foreign talent for Albertabased roles should ensure candidates are aware of the new cost at the initial expression of interest stage.
