Argentina Launches Citizenship by Investment Program

  • Argentina has announced a new Citizenship by Investment Program that is expected to begin accepting applications during the fourth quarter of 2026.

Citizenship by Investment Program

The government of Argentina has announced the launch of a new Citizenship by Investment Program designed to attract foreign capital and strengthen the country’s international investment profile.

Argentina plans to launch the program in the fourth quarter of 2026 after Economy Minister Luis Caputo announced it during Argentina Week in Paris.

Argentina Citizenship by Investment Program Requirements

Under the new program, eligible applicants will be able to pursue Argentine citizenship through one of two investment options:

  • Make a non-refundable contribution of USD 350,000 to the Argentine National Treasury; or
  • Purchase a USD 800,000 government bond created specifically for the program.

Family Member Eligibility

The program will also allow qualifying family members to apply for citizenship alongside the principal applicant.

Spouses and Adult Children

  • Spouses may apply through an additional contribution of USD 100,000.

Unmarried children between the ages of 18 and 25 who do not have children of their own may also apply through a USD 100,000 contribution.

Minor Children

  • Children under the age of 18 may be included through a USD 25,000 contribution.

According to the government, a typical family consisting of a principal applicant, spouse and two minor children could apply for Argentine citizenship for a total contribution of USD 500,000.

Due Diligence and Compliance Measures

The Argentine government has indicated that all applications will be subject to enhanced due diligence and financial background screening in line with international transparency and anti-money laundering standards. Argentina’s Agency for Citizenship by Investment Programs will review applicants’ identities, sources of funds, criminal backgrounds and immigration histories.

The Agency for Citizenship by Investment Programs will assess applications in coordination with relevant government authorities, while the National Directorate of Migration will make final approval decisions.
