Republic of Korea Signature Verification System for Foreign Nationals
Key Point
- The Republic of Korea has introduced a new Personal Signature Verification System that allows foreign residents to obtain a signature verification certificate without a personal seal.
Signature Verification Option for Foreign Nationals
The Republic of Korea announced the launch of a Personal Signature Verification System that enables foreign residents to issue a legally recognized signature verification certificate without using a traditional personal seal. The new system offers the same legal effect as a personal seal certificate and aims to simplify administrative procedures for foreign nationals.
Applicants use the system by visiting a local Community Service Center (Si/Gun/Gu Office or Eup/Myeon/Dong), presenting their Residence Card or Overseas Korean Resident Card, and signing on an electronic pad. They do not need a personal seal.
The Ministry of Justice states that the system offers a secure and convenient alternative for foreign residents who need signature verification for administrative or legal processes.
