New Zealand Closes Ukraine Resident Visa Category March 2026
Key Point
- New Zealand will close the Ukraine Resident Visa category to new applications on 16 March 2026, requiring eligible Special Ukraine Visa holders to apply for residence before that date
Ukrainian Visa Category
New Zealand has announced that the Ukraine Resident Visa category will close to new applications on 16 March 2026, marking the end of the two‑year window originally established for Ukrainians who arrived on a 2022 Special Ukraine Visa.
Individuals who wish to remain in New Zealand permanently must submit their residence application on or before 16 March 2026, because Immigration New Zealand cannot accept applications received after that date under the current policy settings.
Eligible applicants may apply for another Special Ukraine Visa while Immigration New Zealand processes their residence application, which allows them to remain lawfully in the country during the decision period.
