Denmark Resumes Asylum Cases for Syrian Nationals

Denmark has officially resumed the processing of asylum cases for individuals from Syria, following a decision by the Refugee Appeals Board’s Coordination Committee on 30 June 2025. The suspension, originally enacted in December 2024 due to instability after the fall of the Assad regime, had halted both asylum and related case reviews. The Danish Immigration Service will resume first-instance processing of pending asylum cases. Officials plan to begin interviews in the fourth quarter of 2025.

In addition to asylum cases, Denmark will also resume processing extensions of residence permits and family reunification cases for Syrian nationals. However, applications for permanent residence permits remain suspended for the time being. Authorities created a dedicated information page to guide Syrian applicants and their families through the updated procedures.
