Canada Implements Updates to the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)
Key Points
- Effective 1 July 2025, Ontario launched a new employer-led application portal for its Immigrant Nominee Program
Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) Changes
Effective 1 July 2025, the government of Ontario introduced a new electronic employer portal for applicants under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The new portal introduces the transition of the employer job offer streams to an employer-led application process. As a result, the following changes will also apply:
- Employers can now register their business and job offer details through the portal.
- Once submitted, this information enables prospective applicants to register their Expression of Interest (EOI).
- Individuals whose EOIs were previously automatically withdrawn are encouraged to work with their employers to submit a new one.
In-Person Interview Requirements
OINP now has the ability to request in-person interviews for both employers and foreign national applicants. According to the government, this update is aimed at supporting the integrity and credibility of applications. Accommodations will be made when appropriate.
The updates are designed to better align immigration pathways with the province’s current workforce demands.
